snowmobile exhaust manufactures

so recently I have picked up a new to me sled, it is a 2015 skidoo renegade backcountry x 800r etec, its a mouthful! anyway this is the best snowmobile that I have ever owned. its got an 800cc engine that produces 160 horsepower from factory, and just last week i ordered a can or exhaust for my sled, the exhaust is an mbrp trail series can which makes the sled a lot louder and gives a 2 horsepower increase. there are other types of exhausts or cans that a lot of manufacturers make but in my opinion I think mbrp makes a great sound for a decent price, so todays blog is going to be on the different manufacturers of cans and some sound tests and comparisons.

MBRP… the first manufacturer i would like to cover is MBRP, this is the manufacturer I have currently gone with. this is a Canadian company. I’ve heard my buddy’s sled that has an mbrp trail series can and I really liked the sound. its a lower growling idle and I high pitchy wine at high rpms. now I don’t really like a can that is so loud its just irritating but if you do they make one like this. mbrp makes a race series can and a mountain performance series exhaust, which is also very loud. they also make pipes and systems for cars trucks and four-wheelers. overall a good brand to buy from. https://ca.mbrp.com/

GGB… Next up is GGB exhaust, this i another snowmobile and atv exhaust manufacturer. GGB makes an assortment of different cans including the GGB mountain series can which another one of my buddies has on his snowmobile. now this is a lot different sounding than mbrp. the GGB can series is a deeper in tone while idling and when revved to high rpms is a deep loud sounding exhaust. they also make a trail tuned muffler and a quiet muffler, this is to mask the original sound and make it even quieter. they also make exhausts for atv and sxs offroad vehicle’s. https://ggbexhaust.com/

JAWS… The next manufacturer i have heard of is JAWS, JAWS is a well known exhaust manufacturer for snowmobiles and atvs, they make full systems with pipes and cans to really increase horsepower and sound. JAWS is the one can that I have never heard from my live prospective. although people who I talked to before going with mbrp said that JAWS was not what i was looking for. jaws is known for aggressive loud sounding pipes for really deep loud sound. they also have trail pipes race pipes and mountain pipes. but don’t look at them wrong JAWS is a strong brand. https://jawsperformance.com/

this is the video of mbrp trail can sound.

this is the jaws trail can sound .

this is the ggb trail can sound.

these are pictures of these cans.

this is the ggb trail can.

so obiously you can see the differences and such. hopfully you go with mbrp

snowmobiling

Yesterday I was out snowmobiling with my buddy’s and we were flying down the trails and doing wheelies. Now I’m not a really big wheelie guy because I know when you do stupid things you get stupid rewards, for example my other buddy Kanyen was doing stupid things when he broke his snowmobile. So I like to baby my sled. It is the first machine that I have owned my self. Now I like to go easy on it and treat it nice. But when the boys are doing cool wheelies and you feel left out you best open it up and do some twelve o’clock wheelies. Or so I thought.

this will take you to a you tube video of what w call wheelies. now none of us can do this really because we are all to scared to hold our snowmachines wide open for long periods of time, anyway well i tried to show off and do a big wheelie and i knew that the machine could but i also knew that the machine could also wreck itself. long story short i did a pretty long pretty cool wheelie but than my shock got stuck in. now i knew that i needed to rebuild my shocks but i never did. so than they got stuck in. and it happened while doing a wheelie.

now that’s what my skid looked like, see how the front of the track is up at an angle, that is not supposed to happen

now that is what it is supposed to look like, see how the whole track is on the ground.

so anyway this problem can be fixed by a rebuild of the shock, which is what i need to do. this is caused by condensation and the shocks to be full of liquid and freeze. but my shocks aren’t that bad but they do stick sometimes. now my snowmobile is a 2015 so its not the newest by any means. but this sled of mine has big plans in the future. I’m hoping to get a mbrp trail can and a dr pepper graphic rap on my sled to make it look and sound even cooler. but that’s a summer time thing because i an broke and cannot buy that now.

this video is of a silly looking guy inspecting shocks if they need to be rebuilt.

hope this was interesting.

Kijiji Finds

this is a safari 377 skidoo, I’ve been looking on Canadas number one buy and sell Kijiji for a few days now and i seen a 2015 summit sp 146 for 6000 long story short i found this beast of a sled. this thing will start every time no matter the weather and is the ultimate machine for all the exploring oi plan on doing from looking for shed antlers to ice fishing this thing is the answer

if you are thinking that this thing is not the absolute best deal ever your proxy right. The best deal is the summit sp for only 6000 but the safari is going to rip I’m going to find so many sheds and go through so much snow. this link will take you to amazing deals on Canadas number one buy and sell website https://www.kijiji.ca/v-snowmobile/winnipeg/1985-skidoo-safari-377cc/1703016128 and this will take you right to the safari so you can see the add and how mint it really is. but don’t buy it.

this is a video link to see this thing at top speed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8n2Qrzr3jQ&t=13s

so the reason the skidoo safari 377 is the machine for this winter is because i know for a fact we are going to get at least four feet of snow and I’m going to need the 377 power

so lets see you on the trail!!!

Late season mallards and big rutting bucks.

So its about that time again. I’ve been out all season hunting geese and ducks not really thinking about deer, big heavy racked deer. so as Halloween comes around every year that’s what i call my que to “get after some big bucks and leave the ducks”.

Its November first, the frost is on the ground every morning. Its getting light later and getting dark earlier. The whitetail deer rut is in full swing. Starting a few weeks ago I put out a few trail cameras and tried to get on some of last years deer, and I have had nothing but success. I have seen three of the same deer i had on camera last year, they’ve shown nothing other than potential and grew up a lot. But over three weeks of pre rut now coming into full swing whitetail rut I’m hopeful to see last years giant. If there’s one thing I can recall about this deer its that he is a beautiful thick wide thirteen point buck with lots of potential to grow another few points and kickers over that following summer. But I haven’t quite seen him yet so hopefully he comes by soon and I can get on his trail.

The “Big Boy” or (BB) buck showed up on camera two days after rifle season which tells me he will make it through that later winter and hopefully that summer. This summer I had not been out looking for him because he is a bush buck which means I wouldn’t see him in the fields. I was set on “The Lake Buck” but after all summer of scouting and preparation, getting turned down from farmers all summer I never got a chance to follow up on that deer, than goose season came around.

This website is just a hunting channel I watch, they are all about ducks and big bucks too if your interested in some context on the topic.

Now my problem is that I cant get out of the late season mallards, they are so beautiful and taste so good this time of year. And not having my target buck on camera gets my spirit for the whitetail deer rut.

Other people have this problem too. https://www.outdoorcanada.ca/ This website will show you the best time and tactics of hunting pre rut and during rut in how the deer are acting. But during this time I tend to be still hung up on ducks.

The only thing that is going to get me off the duck train is a trail cam pic of “Big Boy” wish me luck this season.

literally last years trail cam pic a day after I shot my other deer.

pre rut in big bucks

today in quacking about the upcoming deer rut or breading season. the best time to get after a monster buck.

this is an image of a world class whitetail, this mature buck is on a mission to find a doe during the rut.

my blogs first topic is going to be the signs of pre rut bucks. and the difference between a mature buck and a young bucks actions during this time of year. things such as the types of sign they make like rubs and scrapes, this is a video of another deer hunter explaining how he can tell if a rub is from a younger buck compared to an more mature buck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwfzFLp-gBs

some ways that i tell the difference between a mature buck and an younger buck is the depth of the rub you see when a mature buck makes a rub he has these rough points on the base of there rack called kickers. depending on how old the deer is or its genetics this may not be true but when you see two inch gouges in the tree from his kickers and all the mass and power coming from that big bodied deer having at the pour tree you know its a big buck

see all of the gnarliest looking stuff on this mature bucks base of his antlers, thoes will create deep gouges rather than young deer with no kickers.

see how this younger buck is still pretty tall and wide but doesn’t have any big kickers or sharp points at the base of his antlers, which in my opinion is what really shreds the bark of a tree to make a big rub.

this is a mature buck rub, you can tell by the mass of the tree usually a smaller deer wont tackle a big tree like so, but you can see how its all shredded and gouged from those kickers and brow tines.

this deer is a younger buck. he is hitting a small little shrub, and the rub is small and smooth, not gouged and shredded like a big buck .

the next topic i would like to go over is the Bachler groups. and how they are breaking up. that big buck might not be where you had him all summer on camera, he has now moved to where he is finding does for rut he’s making scrapes and rubs really beefing up for the rut season and leaving there summer Bachler groups.

https://realtree.com this website will give you some interesting facts about the pre whitetail rut and Bachler groups breaking up for rut.

https://deerassociation.com this is another website that will give you more of an scientific answer to why Bachler groups break up before the fall breeding season.

hope you learned something while reading todays blog, and good luck in the deer woods.

banded snow goose

todays blog is about my hunting season goal to harvest a banded snow goose. my whole life my dad has taken me hunting. as i get older and learn more i tend to do more solo hunting and learning from my own mistakes. yet at the same time trying to meet my goals. goose hunting is something i enjoy doing. a few years back i was introduced to banded geese and ducks. my first band was a Canada goose, and this spring i was lucky enough to harvest a banded pintail duck, while hunting spring conservation season with my buddy. and now coming to the 2024 season I’ve made my goal to harvest a banded snow goose.

types of bands …

the main and most common band or marker for waterfowl tracking is the good old leg band. but the odd time if Ur really lucky u might get a neck band marker which has been sort of discontinued because of obvious reasons. but some are still circulated.

the banding of snow geese happens all over Canada and the united states. this is a website that will show you all about how where why and everything you need or would like to know about banded geese weather that be Canada geese or snow geese etc.https://www.agjv.ca/banding/

this is an image of blue geese/ snow geese getting captured for tagging or banding. another name for snow goose or blue goose is light goose another website i would recommend is https://www.canada.ca/en/polar-knowledge/events/light-goose-banding.html this will show you how light geese are banded in northern Canada.

the hunting season of 2024 in Manitoba Canada i harvested a banded Canada goose that was banded in Nebraska us and was harvested in Riverton mb that’s over 1500 kms of migration and the goose was six years old.
